New MCA Advanced Seafarer Courses Approved for Galileo

The UK Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) has now approved six new courses for advanced STCW seafarer certification for delivery by Galileo Maritime Academy from its’ Phuket, Thailand professional seafarer training facilities at Yacht Haven Marina.

These advanced proficiency courses are:

  • Advanced Fire Fighting   ( AFF )

  • Survival Craft and Rescue Boats   ( PSC&RB )

  • Fast Rescue Boats   ( PFRB )

  • Medical Care   ( PMC )

  • Approved Engine Course   ( AEC )

  • Efficient Deckhand Course   ( EDH )

These new courses also include Updated Training courses and are in addition to the ten basic STCW training courses which Galileo has been delivering under direct MCA approval for the last three years.

Galileo Maritime Academy has greatly expanded its’ facilities to meet Merchant Navy Training Board (MNTB) criteria and to give seafarers a complete practical experience in real life situations using current professional ship-board equipment.

The Galileo Maritime Academy campus at Yacht Haven Marina includes its’ own student Residence, School of Advanced Fire Fighting, School of Marine Engineering, Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Facility as well as training superyachts, motor boats and tenders for navigation and seamanship practical exercises at sea.
