The Thai Cabinet approves 30 days extension providing a Special Tourist Visa privilege to visiting yachts on arrival.

On 9th December 2020, the cabinet has approved a 30 days extension of providing a special tourist visa on arrival to visiting yacht. The Thai Yachting Business Association (TYBA) has submitted the extension request to the Thai Government to provide more time for visiting yacht to enter Thailand under this special visa promotion. This will make it more convenient for visiting yacht to enter Thailand without having to obtain a Certificate of Entry application with the Royal Thai Embassy. The Special Tourist Visa provides visitor up to 270 days stay in the Kingdom.

This announcement also removes prohibition of visitors from high transmitted disease nation to enter Thailand. Yacht visitors will have to undertake quarantine on board according to Alternative Yacht Quarantine (AYQ) measure.

TYBA has submitted a request to the Thai Government to allow visiting yacht to enter Thailand back in September 2020. This is to support the yachting industry that has suffered from prohibition of international passaging vessel arrival since the Emergency Decree announcement.
