Monaco Yacht Show 2020 Cancelled

The Monaco Yacht Show 2020 has been cancelled. The news was announced June 26 in a media statement by organiser Informa Markets, and comes a month after the Superyacht Builders Association (SYBAss) and the Large Yacht Brokers Association (LYBRA) announced their intention to withdraw from the 30th edition of the show, citing concerns over Covid-19. The 30th edition of the show, which was slated for September 23-26, 2020, will now be held in September 2021.

Top of the Gulf Regatta rescheduled

Important Announcement
In light of the current Coronavirus situation, the Top of the Gulf Regatta Committee have decided to reschedule the 2020 regatta. The dates for the next regatta will be 30th April to 5th May 2021.

This decision has not been taken lightly. With existing and possible Governmental decisions both here and abroad that could affect travel for overseas participants, and having taken into account recent communications with sailors, partners and stakeholders, we feel the decision to reschedule is the correct action.

Superyacht "Lady D" gutted by fire at Phuket marina

The 55-metre superyacht “Lady D” moored at Ao Po Grand Marina, on Phuket’s east coast, caught fire this morning, August the 7th, devastating the multi-million-baht yacht.

The yacht is believed to have caught fire shortly after 8am, with firefighters called to the marina at 8:20am. Firefighters at the scene confirmed to The Phuket News that no persons were injured in the fire, but they were unable to bring the blaze under control.

Surin Islands bleached corals nearly fully recovered

An estimated 90% of the corals damaged by bleaching at the popular Mu Ko Surin National Park, north of Phuket, have recovered, reports national park officials.

The corals in the park suffered heavy damage from bleaching in 2010, and suffered another spate of bleaching in May this year, Prarop Plang Ngan, Chief Phuket Marine National Park Operation Center 2, told The Phuket News.
