75 Years of Rolly Tasker Sails

With their global headquarters in Phuket, Rolly Tasker Sails was founded by Rolly Tasker from Australia, back in 1949. Tasker in 1956 won Australia’s first Olympic medal in sailing as well as several World Championships before moving on to dominate the world of ocean racing over several decades.

Rolly Tasker Sails have been operating from Thailand since 1992. In 2006, the company opened the world’s largest, purpose-built sail-loft in Phuket with 100,000 square feet of floor space, and housing many more services such as chandlery, rigging shop, rope-making and more. Rolly Tasker Sails is the one-stop shop for bluewater yachts passing through the global cruising hub of Phuket for all services from the deck up. And with more than 2,6 million sails made to date and counting, Rolly Tasker Sails remains at the forefront of global sailmaking. Sails are shipped to all parts of the globe, and many regional and local dealers ensure a personal service to their customers in most sailing areas worldwide.

As a trusted institution in rigging and sail-making valued by yachtspeople from around the world, Rolly Tasker Sails serves both the global and the local sailing community. The company employs a hugely dedicated, loyal and professional workforce in Phuket, consisting of sailmakers, sail designers, riggers, rope makers and many others. While utilising the latest and most advanced technology in sail-making, time honoured handcraft is also a hallmark of sail production at Rolly Tasker Sails.

The company is run by CEO Sven Cornelius, a long-term personal friend of Rolly Tasker who passed away in 2012. “I strive to run the company according to Rolly’s ideas”, he says. “Which means always giving your very best, providing happy customers with top quality products at affordable prices and aiming to remain at the forefront of sailmaking also over the next 75 years!”
