Surin Islands bleached corals nearly fully recovered
An estimated 90% of the corals damaged by bleaching at the popular Mu Ko Surin National Park, north of Phuket, have recovered, reports national park officials.
The corals in the park suffered heavy damage from bleaching in 2010, and suffered another spate of bleaching in May this year, Prarop Plang Ngan, Chief Phuket Marine National Park Operation Center 2, told The Phuket News.

Asia Marine Phuket appointed exclusive dealer for Bali Catamarans in Thailand
Asia Marine Phuket is now the exclusive dealer for the French designed Bali Catamarans. One of Phuket’s longest established charter agencies, Asia Marine will take delivery of the first Bali catamaran in November 2019, the Bali 4.1 sailing catamaran.

Maya Bay Closed For At Least 2 Years
Maya Bay on Koh Phi Phi Le, which was closed to the public on the 1st of June 2018 is to remain closed for up to two more years, possibly even longer.
Originally the bay was closed to the public for four months to allow the coral to recover, this was extended by a further 6 months to the end of March this year, but the bay remained closed. At a meeting this week it was decided that the bay will remain shut to visitors for at least another two years as its ecology needs more time to recover.

In a joint statement issued today by Andy Treadwell, CEO of Verventia Pte Ltd, owners of the Thailand Yacht Show (TYS), Gael and Olivier Burlot, owners of Asia RendezVous, and Gulu Lalvani, Chairman of Royal Phuket Marina, it was announced that the three parties have agreed to collaborate in producing one combined boat show in Phuket next year 10-13 January.
Underwater Clean Up day
The TYBA was represented at the recent Underwater Clean Up day last Sunday the 30th of September. Members of the TYBA joined the MV Dive Asia with a total of 47 people including 42 volunteer divers.
TYBA supported lunch, fruit, gloves and garbage bags. The divers collected 15 bags of garbage and removed 500 kilos from underwater!! Well done to all those involved.
