Member Spotlight - Mick Kealy
Mick Kealy is one of the most respected and well-liked members of the Phuket yachting community. SEA Yachting takes a look at his life and what brought him to Thailand.
One of eight children, Mick hails from Bunyip, a small town of 1,000 people in Victoria, Australia, located on the Princess Highway east of Melbourne. The town is said to be named after a named after a mythical Aboriginal swamp monster.
Member Spotlight - Jeroen Deknatel
In his forty-four years on Phuket, Jeroen Deknatel has seen the island’s leisure marine industry grow from infancy to its desired position as a global superyacht destination.
Jeroen grew up in Utrecht Holland, his family sailed. They all liked to weekend-sail, and his brother-in-law Bob was part of the 1970s North Sea yacht racing fraternity.
Thailand Charter Week a Resounding Success
The second edition of the Thailand Charter Week, held from the 16th to the 19th of November at Phuket Yacht Haven Marina was blessed by fantastic weather; the sun shone abundantly on the display of motor and sailing yachts sized from 15 to 40 meters. The high number of qualified visitors to the B2B event included Thai charter brokers, agents and tourism & hotel industry professionals, plus overseas visitors from the UK, Monaco, France, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Singapore, who enjoyed the show and the networking opportunities at the show’s parties.
Thailand Charter Week enjoys Ministry, TAT support
The second Thailand Charter Week at Phuket Yacht Haven launched on Wednesday the 16th of November 2022 with the support of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, and Tourism Authority of Thailand.
Mr Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports, has thrown his personal support behind the second edition of Thailand Charter Week, which is also sponsored by the Tourism Authority of Thailand and organised by the Thai Yachting Business Association.
Singapore’s ONE°15 Marina to host regional boat show in April 2023
The newly upgraded ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove in Singapore has announced that it will host a regional boat show from April 27-30, 2023.
Arthur Tay, CEO of SUTL Enterprise, which owns the ONE°15 brand, made the announcement at the second edition of Grow Boating Singapore, which was held at the marina’s floating Boaters’ Bar on the evening of Wednesday the 2nd of November 2022 and attracted close to 100 guests.
Thailand Charter Week Updated Broker Access Prices
The Thai Yachting Business Association (TYBA) is pleased to announce the introduction of a tiered pricing system for brokers wishing to visit the show.
Option A - Full access ticket - Opening and closing parties, both days on the dock, and day trip on a boat - 6,000 Thai Baht
Option B - Marina and party ticket - Opening and closing parties and both days on the dock - 2,000 Thai Baht
Option C - Day pass ticket - Single day ticket to view the boats on dock, not including any parties - 900 Thai Baht

Phuket King’s Cup Regatta returns from the 3rd to the 10th of December

Port Macchanu announces development of Superyacht marina in Phuket
On the 19th of September 2022, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Tourism and Sports presided over a press conference at the Pullman Bangkok King Power Hotel to announce the launch of the Port Macchanu Superyacht marina development project. Also in attendance were Mr. Khempol Ouitayakul, Secretary of the Minister of Tourism and Sports, Mr. Chote Trachu, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Mr. Aran Boonchai, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Tourism and Sports, Mr. Chaturon Phakdiwanich, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Tourism.
Pattaya and Jomtien boating community join the first island/beach clean up
On Sunday morning, 24 September 2022 – a group of boaters from the Pattaya and Jomtien boating community rallied behind the efforts of Ocean Marina Yacht Club, to bring awareness to the ever visible rubbish problem they see on the amazing islands around Pattaya. This pilot event, lead by Ocean Marina, saw 6 boats and 44 people join the first island/beach clean up, successfully taking an incredible 1,850kg of washed-up rubbish off Koh Man Wichai. The first island beach clean-up was a massive success and paves the way for more marine conservation efforts in the region
Thailand Charter Week gets support of Phuket Governor
In support of the Thai government policy to promote the tourism industry, the Thai Yachting Business Association will once again organise the Thailand Charter Week at the Phuket Yacht Haven from the 16th to the 19th of November 2022.
On Friday the 23rd of September at the Phuket City Hall, Mr. Narong Woonsiew, Governor of Phuket, chaired a meeting to support the public relations of the Thailand Charter Week 2022.
